Dear Editor:

Tuesday, April 15th is an important day for the future of Hoboken's children. It is a contest between those who merely seek to represent the citizens of Hoboken on the School Board and those who are desperately seeking to control the Board, thus the jobs and contracts financed by our tax dollars.

Hoboken First Civic Association and the candidates endorsed for city council are honored to endorse Jose Ponjoan, Deborah Fullam Alicea and John Madigan for seats on the Hoboken School Board. These Hobokenites are not seeking power or control of the Hoboken School Board. They simply want to represent the parents, teachers and students that are affected every day by the decisions made by the Board. They are interested in after-school programs, improved technical programs, a better special education program, safety in our schools, more programs designed to build character as well as the minds of our students and make sure our new schools are built with the health, safety and welfare of the students in mind.

We urge all Hoboken parents, educators and taxpayers to join with us in voting for Jose Ponjoan, Deborah Fullam Alicea and John Madigan for the Hoboken School Board on Tuesday, April 15, 2003.

Dominic Lisa, 1st Ward
John Corea, 2nd Ward
Vincent Addeo, 3rd Ward
Anthony Mussara, 4th Ward
Michael Schaffer, Chairman, Hoboken First Civic Assoc.
