Dear Editor:

As we approach the municipal election when the electorate of North Bergen will exercise its right to choose a governing body, it is indeed fortunate that the present Board of Commissioners will be standing for re-election.

The ticket consists of Mayor Nicholas Sacco, who has shepherded the township in a way that has resulted in a superb property tax record while meeting the needs of citizens in the area of commercial development and encompassing the requirements of those groups at the opposite ends of the age spectrum, that is, recreational program for children and social agendas for the seniors; Commissioner Frank Gargiulo, whose Department of Public Works has just completed an outstanding job of dealing with a winter consisting of an inordinately large amount of snow while handling the normal waste situation in sterling fashion; Commissioner Theresa Ferraro, whose leadership of the Public Safety Department has been praiseworthy by providing security to the citizenry by means of immediate telephone response, in the person of automobile patrol or patrolman on the beat; Commissioner Hugo Cabrera, whose sound fiscal knowledge has enabled North Bergen to be one of the foremost exponents of financial management; and Commissioner Allen Pascual, a former athlete and now the guiding force of the Department of Parks and Recreation; who besides presiding over the major sports of football, basketball and baseball and soccer, has instituted advances in hockey, swimming and other activities.

With the proximity of election day at hand, the citizens of North Bergen will have the assurance or sound and secure living with the election of the quintet of qualified administrators listed above.
