Dear Editor:

Elections in Hoboken are never dull, but this one came close. Looking at the stacks of attack mail, the hired kids, the recorded messages, the smear campaign on TV, the phony claims, and the Internet smut too hateful to be acknowledged, I did come to wonder if the intent of it all was to advance ideas, or just to wear down the electorate. If wearing us down was the plan, it almost worked. Voter turnout was the lowest in memory.

But the Hobokenites who took the time to vote came through, with 60 percent in the 2nd Ward, 51 percent in the 6th Ward, and 85 percent of the 1st Ward voting for candidates willing to work with "but not be controlled by " Mayor Roberts.

Because of your support, in the First Ward, Second Ward, and in the Sixth Ward, Hoboken Alliance candidates will continue to offer a simple message, "We must improve parking, we must do more with less and we must clean up City Hall."

Our message won't change, nor will our tactics. Ron Rosenberg, Daniel deCavaignac and I are still the folks who depend on Hobokenites for our support. Our opponents are still those who have sold out our city for hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions. They work for the contributors, "we work for you."

> Thank you for taking us this far, truly, but we need your help again. If you'd like to contribute or get involved please call (201) 420-6600 or contact us at www.HobokenAlliance.com. And please make plans to vote on June 10. If an absentee ballot would help we'll gladly get you one. Otherwise, see you at the polls.

Beth Mason
