Dear Editor:

Allow me this opportunity to express my deep appreciation to the voters of the Fourth Ward for re-electing me to a four-year term as their Councilman. They have my assurances that I will focus on those issues and challenges that will improve the quality of life for all our residents.

Also, I would like to thank all the citizens of the Fourth Ward who exercised their right to vote, regardless of which candidate they supported. Although the citywide turnout was light, the Fourth Ward polled one of the highest amounts of votes -- approximately 20 percent of the city's total. It is testimony to the fact that our citizens follow the issues and take an interest in their government.

Now that the campaign is over in the Fourth Ward, it is time to put away the brooms, the mops and the rhetoric. I call upon my defeated opponent, Councilman-at-Large Anthony Soares, to work along with me in serving the residents of our ward. As a Councilman-at-Large with two years remaining on his term, he is duty-bound to put politics aside and perform the duties of his office on behalf of all of our residents. To the other candidates who ran, second place finisher Anthony Mussara and Sal DeMeo, I thank them for running spirited and positive campaigns. Hopefully, they too, will remain active and join with us in moving the Fourth Ward forward.

I do not have space enough to thank all the public officials and individuals who endorsed me, worked door-to-door, ran the headquarters or worked on the phones. That I will do on a personal basis. They all know who they are and how grateful I am for their help.

Finally, I urge all residents in the Second, Third and Sixth Wards to be sure to vote in the runoff election on June 10th for Richard Del Boccio, Roseann Andreula and Nino Giacchi respectively. They are all fine and dedicated public servants who will make Hoboken proud.

Sincerely yours,
Christopher Campos
Councilman, Fourth Ward
