Dear Editor:

My name is James Monaco, Jr., and I am a born and raised Hobokenite. For about the last eight years I have had the pleasure of living in the First Ward. At the time I moved into the First Ward I was in my late teens and was not at all involved in municipal matters or politics; after all, I had just been granted the privilege of voting. As I have grown and watched Hoboken grow, it has become clear to me that at this time, it is of the utmost importance to get involved.

Hoboken is at one of the most important times of its existence, and it is imperative that we, as residents of the First Ward, be represented by the most experienced, knowledgeable and compassionate individual possible. There is no doubt in my mind that the person who possesses those qualities is Theresa Castellano.

If you are not already familiar with some of Mrs. Castellano's accomplishments, please allow me this opportunity to make you aware of them:

Parking -- helped to create over 2,000 new spaces; directly responsible for free visitors' permits for those who are 62 years of age and older. A very thoughtful and caring gesture on Mrs. Castellano's part and something that is greatly appreciated by our senior citizen population; Mrs. Castellano won the battle to have resident parking restored on River Street between Third and Fourth Streets.

Safety - through Mrs. Castellano's efforts the traffic signals on River Street, and on Third and Fourth Streets at River Street, were finally made functional; there have also been some "no turn on red" signs placed at various corners throughout the First Ward.

Although I have only brought up a few of Mrs. Castellano's past accomplishments, there are many other areas where her thoughts, suggestions and expertise have been vital to Hoboken's well-being and progress. Mrs. Castellano has many innovative ideas for the future, and if reelected, will be able to implement her initiatives for the benefit of, not only the residents of the First Ward, but also the rest of Hoboken's population. If you are interested in any of Mrs. Castellano's other accomplishments or ideas for the future, please visit her website at www.Castellano2003.org.

On June 10th, this Tuesday, please join me in voting 1-B and reelecting Theresa Castellano as First Ward Council person. Hoboken's future depends on it.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.

Sincerely,
James Monaco, Jr.
