This letter relates to 1. "State Funding to Saint Peter's Prep way wrong" and 2. "Separation of Church and State in Hudson?"
I have two kids in the Learning Community Charter School, in Jersey City, who are "eligible for transportation services" - the school bus.
For a couple of years now, (and it boils my blood) we, the parents of the kids from the charter school have to shoulder part of the expenses to have the school bus available for our kids.
I honestly feel that my kids are not safe to take the public transportation. God forbid my kids' pictures don't end up on the milk carton. The safety of my kids is my main concern.
I know older kids - high school students are eligible for the school bus and they get it.
When I decided to live/have a family/buy a house in Jersey City it never came to my mind that other public schools/the Board of Education would "discriminate" (if that's the right term, well, I feel that way) against the charter school. What happened to the "desegregation of schools?"
I feel so disgusted being a tax payer that my kids can't avail of the "full services" of the old school bus. Where's the money for such purpose? It went to the church? Only in Jersey City. Only in Jersey City Board of Education. Only in New Jersey. Do we march on Trenton to get a school bus?
