In the past edition of the Reporter, on the article "Street named after Celia Cruz" it was mentioned that I "was taking advantage of the large crew of Latinos present at the event to hand out political literature." Let's not be hypocritical, the whole event was political in nature.
All the candidates from the Hudson County Democratic Organization were present. Mayor Stack was using his position as the mayor to fund events at taxpayers' expenses, to gain popularity among Latino voters. Celia Cruz popularity is being used by politicians to gain votes and that is a shame. If Stack would have wanted to honor the memory of this great lady and singer, he should have done it two weeks after the election, not before.
Furthermore, Assemblyman Fraguela, the assemblyman for the 33rd District, was not invited. The naming of the street in Union City after Celia Cruz two weeks before the general election was political in nature and at taxpayers' expenses. A dishonor to the memory of the Great Celia Cruz.
