Restore 'fairness' to those on Medicaid and those on Medicare

Dear Editor:

America continues to give billions of dollars to other countries even though it must come from our hard-working, over-burdened taxpayer. I think the time has come to stop giving billions away so our taxpayer can realize their own American dream without having to support the whole world.

The USA is kind, considerate and compassionate to all who come here from any place on earth. On arrival it is immediate for most to receive Medicaid without having worked or paid one dime into the American system. Once on Medicaid, they receive all the help they need so they can feel happy and comfortable in this land of freedom.

Our senior citizens worked many years before collecting Medicare at age 65. However, our seniors continue to suffer hardship because they have discovered many more benefits go to those on Medicaid even though most have never worked in the USA. This has triggered a wave of anger and resentment among our citizens, and I think our social workers and politicians should restore fairness between those on Medicaid and those on Medicare. There is such a thing as equal rights, and each patient should be given exactly the same benefits as the other.

Recently the news media reported many more of our seniors had been found dead in their homes during the past 12 months. Apparently when they needed help the most they found themselves standing alone. It is ironic that America can support the whole world, yet our own senior citizens are grossly neglected.

I suggest we hold back some of the billions we give away each year so we can help our 'golden agers' live the life they so richly deserve.
