Dear Editor:

As a resident of Jersey City I am extremely upset in regards to the full page advertisements that were recently published by the Jersey City Council President and Jersey City Heights Councilman concerning our hardworking and dedicated Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham.

I must state that Mayor Cunningham is a respectful and caring person who takes all people's feelings into consideration and is always available to help all in the city. I know that he cherishes the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I was present at the recent Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade, and all those involved with the Mayor displayed the utmost of reverence for the memory of this late leader of our country.

I must further state that the Heights Councilman shocked and dismayed the community by accusing our Mayor and State Senator of not paying full attention to our city. Our Mayor is on the job 365 days a year, 7 days a week for our common good. It amazes me that this Heights Councilman who was intimately involved with the former mayor, Schundler, did not complain when Bret was away from the city touring the country touting the chart schools and using his last two years as mayor to run for governor. Where was this councilman at that time? Why is this official constantly being unfairly critical of our hardworking mayor?

Please, we ask for harmony and unity and work with Mayor Cunningham for us, not against him.
