HOBOKEN -- Results from the Hoboken City Clerk's office show that Mayor Dawn Zimmer is in the winner of the mayoral race in the mile-square city, ahead of opponents Ruben Ramos Jr. and Timothy Occhipinti.

Zimmer's council-at-large team of David Mello, James Doyle, and Ravi Bhalla are also the winners.

The "Kids First" school board slate backed by Zimmer also came out on top.

Keep watching hudsonreporter.com for more results, and pick up the paper this weekend.

Regarding the controversial rent control referendum, the totals were too close to call on Tuesday night, just like last year. With 97 percent of districts reporting, the Yes vote was 4,906 and the No vote was 4,964. The "Yes" votes were in favor of a proposal from a property owners' group to take some apartments off rent control when a current tenant leaves. Absentee ballots may make the difference.

Both Zimmer and Ramos had supported the "No" vote.

Come on, I am quite sure Just Great is not a real person. Sounds like a troll just having a bit of fun with us. No one uses yuppie anymore no matter how long they lived here. Maybe someone drank too much victory wine and wanted to have some fun stirring up stereotypes of our city's natives, anyway happy election day!

Also her husband makes all her decisions, not her! So what kind of leader is that for the city of Hoboken! Oh yeah and she wanted to lay off as many firefighters and police officers as possible! Just go back to drinking, you idiot yuppie!

Just Great:

1. It's not the "Yuppies" who drink and puke on St Patrick's day...it's the people who come from out of town to patronize the bars on Washington. Want to get rid of them? Go ahead. And watch your taxes go up.

2. Do you honestly think the "Yuppies" moved here without being enticed? And who do you think enticed them -- those "born and raised" politicians who took sweet deals, public and not so public, selling people like you out. And then they turn around and tell you they've got your back!?!! Yup..with a nice, sharp knife. Take Cammarano, for one. He couldn't WAIT to screw you and people like you, because he figured you all for being suckers!!! These guys feed you the "B&R" BS and you eat it up. If you think Russo and Castellano care about you, think again. They're not much different from Cammarano.

3. And no, we're not trying to "ruin" this town. We live in it. And we live in a democracy. The developers built, we moved in, and now are the majority. You reap what you sow.

4. Finally, I am AS MUCH of a Hobokenite as you. Being born and raised here doesn't mean a thing. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. It doesn't entitle you to anything, it doesn't give you any greater say in how OUR community goes forward. And frankly, seeing how the "B&R" council ran the city, I tend to think the city is in better hands now.

First off all you people do is try to ruin this town. My daughter can't even enjoy the saint Patricks day parade because you people act like animals. Second all you yuppies come here, which causes more condos to be built and honoken to flood more. Why don't all you yuppies go back to your little 2 blocks cities and leave Hoboken alone!

Just great...

The "yuppies" came to Hoboken because your friends and neighborhoods in cahoots with developers (e.g., Joe Barry), sent out golden invitations for them to come to Hoboken.

The yuppies didn't torch out tenants in the 80s. The yuppies didn't sit on the planning boards and city council that approved the overdevelopment of Hoboken. Those things were done by your friends and neighbors and the "born and raised" hobokenites.

This article is incorrect. All absentee ballots and machine votes are in and 75 people more voted YES. Now counting provisional ballots but those usually 100 or so and very doubtful will change outcome. Deregulating rent control is the right thing to do for small condo owners some of which barely cover their interest payments with current rents.

See article below:

The link you cite above indicates a margin of 65 votes, not 75, with provisional ballots not yet in.

'Just great' was born and raised here ! Wow, how irrelevant. Times change - deal with it. Embrace the yuppies & money that surrounds you; or pack to up and leave. Your call.
'Just great': leave!

You were born and raised here, but now upset because all the 'yuppies' moved in ? Guess what -- times change, neighborhoods change, demographics change. If you prefer the blue collar, rundown feel you're free to pack up the cardboard box you live in & move on out. Your time has come to an end, so beat it. Otherwise, get a high paying job buy a BMW, and face reality. Understood ?
