The family of Union City resident Diogenes Ramirez, missing since Sunday, Nov. 28, has been trying to reach out to anyone who has information on his whereabouts.

The 54-year-old father of four disappeared in the early morning hours on Sunday after going to walk his son's dog. The dog, a shih-tzu that is brown, black and white, is also missing and answers to "Gizmo."

According to his family, Ramirez's behavior has been erratic for the last two to three months.

Ramirez did not take any clothes or money. But he was arrested two days after he had disappeared. He has not been seen since.

According to a police report, Ramirez was picked up by Union City Police on Nov. 30 at 21st Street for criminal mischief. Ramirez allegedly had been ringing random door bells, singing, and broke the glass to one resident's front doors and attempted to enter. When questioned by police, they said, he appeared happy, and provided no explanation for his actions. He was released that same day due to the fact he was being cooperative with police, and was not intoxicated.

The dog was not with Ramirez at the time.

Ramirez was last seen wearing a blue colored jacket with a white stripe, Colombia brand, along with dark dress pants and black dress shoes. Before his disappearance he had mentioned leaving for Florida, where his daughters live. However, he has made no attempt to contact his family there or in New Jersey, family members said.

Family friends have said that they have sighted him still hovering around the Union City area.

Ramirez is approximately 5'4", with graying hair, and usually clean-shaven. Ramirez's family is deeply concerned for his safety because of his mental state, and implore anyone with information to please contact the Union City Police Department at (201) 348-5780.
