On Saturday, June 4, I attended the third annual spring concert of "Cantigas," an extraordinary women's choir founded and directed by Joan Litman. The concert was held in Our Lady of Grace Church in Hoboken. It was an unforgettable musical experience on many levels, truly a night to remember.
I thought afterwards that I would like to have seen the concert broadcast all over the Mid East. It was that moving. As the fifty-two women of all ages, faiths and cultural backgrounds sang the Persian songs, with the backdrop of the Catholic church, I could only wonder what message such beautiful music would send to those who may only know another side of the USA. Maybe we could air drop Cantigas CDs!
