Beginning as a social studies teacher, Sanger went on to become an assistant principal, then principal, and now the top educator. Sanger has even been publicly lauded by Union City Mayor and State Assemblyman Brian Stack on numerous occasions for his educational leadership. "Sandy," as Sanger is known by his close friends, achieved a Bachelors Degree from William Paterson College in Wayne, N.J. and a Master's Degree from Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J. Sanger and his lovely wife, Suzanne, have two children, sons Matthew and Jonathan, 10 and 5 years old respectively.
Sanger in his spare time is a long-distance runner and has participated in 15 New York City Marathons, of which the last one was in 1999. His top run, he proudly states, is 2 hours and 55 minutes!!! Sanger tells us that he has one more marathon left in him before he "hangs up his sneakers," and wants to beat his old record. Sanger's wife and children miss him being from home with all his responsibilities, but are all understanding. Sanger also still has his old humorous side to him and relates the good old times with his many friends from yesteryear, such as this columnist, and many other educational friends! Yes, Sandy, your friends will be cheering you on in your next marathon at the finish line, and we all plan to bronze your sneakers afterward! ALL THE BEST TO YOU!!! Keep up the fantastic work!!!....

For those asking if retired Guttenberg Mayor Robert Sabello was ever a State Assemblyman also at one time in his past, the answer is "yes," and he served in Trenton before he became the town's mayor...
