A TOWN TREASURE!!! Former West New York Municipal Court Judge John Tomasin, who also served as town attorney for nine and four years respectively, has not forgotten his roots as a town lawyer, he proudly exhibits to those in need! Now a youthful 81 years old, Judge Tomasin has been a resident of West New York since early childhood. He graduated from Memorial High School and served during World War II with the United States Navy in the North Atlantic Theater. Judge Tomasin graduated from Rutgers University Law School cum laude in 1950, and was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1950, and to the United States Supreme Court Bar in 1956. Judge Tomasin is also a Past President of the North Hudson Lawyers Club, and still is practicing law now for over 50 years! Tomasin also served as the Guttenberg Town Attorney for 25 years, and was appointed a Hudson County counsel for three years. Tomasin's community activities have included as serving the West New York Little League for 25 years; the Palisades General Hospital Executive Committee in North Bergen; the Disabled American Veterans as its Local Commander-Chapter 49, and as the New Jersey State DAV-Judge Advocate Legal Advisor for 25 years. Tomasin is an Elder of the Trinity Reformed Church in West New York, and in his leisure time considers himself an enthusiastic but mediocre golfer for over 50 years!

Judge Tomasin lives with his lovely wife Ruth of 55 years, and they have three sons; Davis who is a Washington D.C. government employee; Neal who is an Engineer; and Gordon who is now deceased. Their pride and joy are grandchildren Ryan, a grandson, and Kendall, a granddaughter! Now basically semi-retired as an attorney, Judge Tomasin still however helps veterans and senior citizens and Shut-Ins by performing legal services for them, such as "wills," etc. and makes "house calls" where and when necessary!

Judge Tomasin, you are truly a servant of, by and for the people and you practice it every day from your local and personal history. Surely you are a "treasure" to our community. Keep up and continue your great unselfish work. ALL THE BEST!!!...

Former North Bergen Mayor Peter Mocco tells us that he is still active with his love of senior citizens, for as a real estate developer, in his present avocation, he develops and builds senior citizen housing, and this gives him good feelings and joy that he is still contributing to this cause in some way! Great going Mr. Mocco...

Anna and Frank Vescovo of Weehawken recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The Vescovos were joined by their children; Arthur, Anthony and Anna Marie. Their pride-and-joy grandchildren also celebrated with grandpa and grandma, and the are: Rachel, Eric, Emma, Anthony II and Aba. May there be many more celebrations to come and Best Wishes!...

The "Over-The-Hill-Gang" surfaced and tells us who they are! These guys and a gal create humor every Friday morning at the Four Star Diner in Union City. We previously knew that they were basically retired policemen and postal workers from Union City, West New York and North Bergen, and now they are "unmasked!" Ron Jeffers is their spokesman, and is a retired Union City policeman along with: Otto Sittman, Charles Schwartz, Al Cerulli, Pete Cardinali, Joe Blasco, Bill Provost, Jack Neiman, Bob Maggia, Richie Steinel, Lenny Kaufman, Ron Karabotsas, Mike Repka, Wade Almond. From North Bergen they are: Frank Pinto and Smokey Fortunato. From West New York its John Halpin. The retired postal workers from Union City are: Eddie Sonvico and Richie Clerici. Their legal advisor is Union City's legendary athlete Nicholas Mastorelli, and their culinary consultant is the "lovely" Marge Patnaude, from the 4-Star Diner! Humor and java, and plenty of fun times. Keep up the laughter!!!...

Former State Assemblyman Paul Cuprowski recently told us that he has recuperated from illness of a year ago and has been back at his full-time position in Hudson County government. Former Assemblyman Cuprowski is now residing in Secaucus, and was formerly from the Jersey City Heights. Keep Feeling Better....And So It Goes...Until Next Time...See You Around Town..."MATT"...
