The heat index was sizzling, but the crowd persevered amidst pool action, Italian ices, and lots of free eats and patriotic giveaways.

The yearly Town of Secaucus Fourth of July bash at the Swim Center on Koelle Blvd. drew record crowds for the three-hour entertainment extravaganza.

There was non-stop live music, kiddie rides and lawn chairs galore. Revelers from tiny tots to the most mature of residents showed their love of country and Secaucus at the free Monday night event.

The fireworks finale did not disappoint, as the rockets' red glare popped and sparkled across the street from the center.

Secaucus residents even got a surprise visit from U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez, who is running to keep his seat in November.
