Dear Editor:

This is an open letter to our legislators in Trenton regarding 9/11 memorial monstrosity to be built in Liberty State Park.

I have written to the Governor and the head of the DEP to no avail. It seems as though there is a conspiracy to ram this monstrosity down the throats of the citizens of New Jersey.

Like me, those who have gone down to the park lately were probably just as shocked when they saw what has been happening there.

The more I think about it, the more I am convinced, that none of you legislators ever took the trouble to go down to the park and look at the site. I do not want to believe that our legislators could approve this unbelievable design in memory of those who died on 9/11 on purpose. Nobody could be that callous. The name of this monster is "Empty Sky" - which we had before this pile of dirt was put right smack in the middle of the most awe-inspiring view.

When turning onto Audrey Zapp Drive, you became painfully aware of the emptiness across the river, where the towers once stood.

How anybody in his right mind can approve something like this monster is beyond me. All it will do is rise resentment against the disfiguration of a beautiful park. It will overshadow the purpose of remembering those who died.

Morris Pesin and my husband, Theodore Conrad who are considered founders of the park, must be turning in their graves.
