We have democracy in our country and democracy means, 'a Government by the people & for the people.' Election is the only remedy to keep democracy alive. We have faced the election recently. This election was somewhat different from the past elections, especially in our town. We all know this. Also an election is the reality of democracy. Election comes and goes as per casual but we all are there and we all have to remember this real truth of democracy.
Elected members represent not only their political party or their supporters but they should represent the entire community and the town, too. Their only aim should be the welfare of the entire community, law and order of the town, safety of the people, prosperity of the town, the standard of the school's education and how to keep the town neat, clean and healthy. Their priority should be the people and the town first but not their personal grievances.
The oppositers have to be the red signal against the wrong decisions of the authority which are not beneficial to the town. Their approach should be always positive. It is also very important that the ruling party has to be absolutely positive. They should welcome every positive suggestion of the opposition.
After the election, Mr. Mayor has rightly said in his reaction speech, "All of the council members will all have their fair share of input. If they make proposals that are possible a and make sense, I would have no problem going along with them." We all have to appreciate these words and thanks to Mr. Mayor for his positive attitude.
Let us have a faith in God and let us be united by joining our hands to make Secaucus "a model town."
