Donald Trump is coming to the WWE. NBC and the WWE have reached a tentative agreement to bring Trump in for "SummerSlam." No, he will not be an in-ring performer. The plan is for Trump to manage a wrestler against a Vince McMahon managed wrestler at the PPV. NBC believes the feud will help promote Trump's television show, "The Apprentice."
Did you hear the pin drop in the last row during Raw last week? The Sixshooter did. During the faux Trump vs. O'Donnell match up, the WWE crowd responded with a resounding silence. Vince McMahon thought he had a winning idea on his hands, but instead he was forced to sit ringside and endure his WWE crowd chant his competitor's name, "T-N-A." Sources backstage saw last week's show as an utter failure and a shot in the arm for TNA.
Speaking of TNA, Spike TV is about to announce a new television deal. Sources say that TNA will be given an extra hour of television a week. Next month will be a preview of such a show, as TNA will move to Monday night for a special two-hour event. The reason being the WWE is off that week due to the annual Westminster Dog Show, and TNA wants to capitalize by gaining some of their fans.
Where have you gone Trish Stratus? Well, if you wrestling fans have not seen yet, Trish can be found on CBS's "Armed and Famous." The show pits real celebrities as police officers, and can be found on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. The Sixshooter caught a few minutes of the debut show, and must say that watching Trish get zapped with a tazzer was quite amusing.
So the year in wrestling 2006 has come to an end. It is time for the Sixshooter year-end awards. The tag-team of the year has to go to TNA's Latin American Exchange. LAX busted on to the scene in 2006, winning the tag belts two times and is still the current champion. As for the feud of the year, this one was a hard one so I made it a tie, John Cena vs. Edge and Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe. Cena and Edge carried the WWE through four PPV's, and Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle showed everyone what TNA was all about. Manager of the year has to go to Armando Alejandro Estrada of the WWE, who managed an undefeated Umaga almost the entire year. Promotion of the year goes hands down to TNA. The up-start promotion moved to Spike TV and showed that it could indeed hang with the big boys. The wrestler of the year is none other then Samoa Joe, who had eventful feuds with the likes of Scott Steiner, A.J. Styles, Christopher Daniels, and the unbelievable encounters with Kurt Angle. The year started off slow for Joe, but halfway through he picked up steam with the Steiner feud and never looked back. What is there to expect in 2007? The Sixshooter predicts that Hulk Hogan will show up for one last PPV match. TNA will break the 2.0 rating mark. Scott Hall will not be around. Brock Lesnar will show up in TNA. Goldberg will show up in the WWE. Chris Jericho will stop playing music and start wrestling again. The Ultimate Warrior will continually trash the WWE; ok that was an easy one.
