Summer is about halfway over, but not everyone has managed to go away just yet. Yet all seem to be enjoying the summer rays.

Here's a look at what some of your neighbors, and even members of law enforcement, from West New York and Union City have been up to. "We already went to Florida, and drove through the Florida Keys - me, my husband, three kids and the dog. The rest of the summer I am working here with the kids at Kiddie Land Learning Center and taking field trips." - Yami Lasval, 35, West New York (top)

"Since I'm [in a new job], I'm only planning to take five days to go down to Tennessee with my family. My Harley motorcycle is waiting for me down there, and I will be riding through the Blue Ridge Mountains." - West New York Police Director Oscar Fernandez (center)

"I have been working and have not gone on vacation, but on Saturdays I will go to the beach since I work Monday through Friday." - Mariela Paredes, Union City(bottom)

"I went to Mars for two weeks and had cheese with some cats. I'm also going to ride across the country to enjoy the fun and the sun because with all this global warming it's going to snow next summer." - Jay, 35, West New York

"I'm not going to take a vacation, but I'm going to take a new lease on life. I'll be leaving this good old town after 56 years to go to Paramus." - James Bellveduto, 92 (and still going strong), West New York

"I go down to the Hamptons because I have family there. I go to the beach, and just enjoy the historic district of the town." - Isabel Hernandez, 29, Union City

"I am doing my citizenship application this summer. I'm also waiting for my summer semester at Hudson County Community College to start, so I'm not doing any traveling." - Bolivar Fernando Ortiz, 25, Union City
