I would like to thank Mayor David Roberts, the Hoboken Police Department and the Office of Emergency Management for their initiative to implement a reverse 911 alert system. The recent water main break in Jersey City, which affected our city, is an example of the need to swiftly alert residents in times of a crisis or emergency.
Hoboken officials were very helpful in providing information during the water main break and even provided timely information on the city's web site during the weekend.
The reverse 911 system will only enhance communications with residents should there be a crucial episode in the future. It's much better to be safe than sorry.
