On behalf of the Library Board of Trustees of the Jersey City Free Public Library, we would like to thank the Library Foundation Board of Trustees for their 3rd annual extremely successful fundraiser at P.J. Ryan's, "Hot Fun in the Summertime."
This time, the 'backyard barbeque' had a Hawaiian twist, with all types of decorations giving the feeling of being in Hawaii. Library Director Priscilla Gardner met everyone with the traditional Hawaiian greeting, the laying of the lei around their necks, which set the right mood.
The Library Board of Trustees especially thanks all the people who supported and attended this fundraiser, and all elected officials, including Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy, and Councilpersons Peter Brennan, William Gaughan and Mary Spinello.
We're so appreciative of Eamonn Ryan and his band for volunteering their performance once more, and for providing its upbeat cover band fare, which had the place rocking and people dancing! Also, special thanks go to Mike Ryan and Peter Dineen, co-owners of P.J. Ryan's, as well as their staff and the staff of Fire Code, for creating a welcoming atmosphere and a smooth-running event.
We thank all the individuals, organizations and businesses that have supported the Library Foundation during its three-year campaign for a new Bookmobile, and especially the major grants from Goldman Sachs, the Healy Foundation, PSE&G, Comcast, Estate of Raymond Landis and The Provident Bank Foundation. The Library Board is proud to announce that enough money has been raised to purchase, outright, that brand new, state-of-the-art, ADA-compliant, disabled-accessible Bookmobile, which will be delivered by the end of November.
Much gratitude goes to Library Director and Foundation Executive Director Priscilla Gardner, Library Foundation Treasurer Michael Ryan and all the Trustees for without their ongoing and tireless efforts there would be no fundraising mechanism at the Jersey City Free Public Library Foundation, Inc.
With leftover proceeds from previous fundraisers, along with the September 13th fundraiser, the Jersey City Free Public Library Foundation will embark on its second major fundraising campaign to fund security cameras for the Main Library and all 11 branches.
'Til we meet again at our next fundraiser... Aloha!
Sincerely,
James K. Morley
President, Board of Trustees
Jersey City Free Public Library
