'Dirty trick' was horrible, even for politics

Dear Editor:

Last Friday, when I arrived home from work, my wife Dawn Zimmer, told me a

disconcerting story. While walking our dog that afternoon on the block

where we live, a large young man, well over six feet tall, approached her,

ran in front of her repeatedly blocking her path, snapping pictures. There

was no one around, and she feared for her safety but she couldn't call the

police because she did not have her cell phone.

The man ran away and Dawn wasn't harmed but needless to say I was

concerned. I insisted that she program the police phone number into her

phone and made her promise that she would never leave the house without it.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered on Monday that this incident was

somehow being twisted into a criminal complaint against Dawn based on

the uncorroborated statement of the man who had photographed Dawn.

Enough is enough! The antics of Gerry McCann during this election and the absurd attempt by somebody to manufacture an excuse to have Dawn (the mother of two small children) arrested, are over the top even for Hudson County with its long and storied history of political dirty tricks.
