Dear Editor:

I wish to thank you for publishing my letter regarding the miserable bus service provided by Red & Tan Coach USA in your September 19th edition. Sadly the situation has not improved one bit, and service on the #10 & 99S is as deplorable as ever!

At least you folks at the Jersey City Reporter had the foresight and courage to print my letter. Not so with the Jersey Journal. Even more upsetting is the fact that a very detailed letter very similar to the one you published was sent by me to the Mayor's office in Jersey City. It has yet to be acknowledged much less answered! It was my hope that a copy would be forwarded to the Jersey Journal and hopefully reach an even wider reader base. No such luck!

What aggravates and amazes me is that Red & Tan/Coach USA goes about its daily routine with no accountability whatsoever! They discontinue, cut or change their services with little or no public input. Buses continues to operate whenever they please out of the Journal Square and Port Authority Terminals with little or no supervision at all! The state of NJ provides this company with buses. Do they provide subsidies as well? If so, then the state is being taken for a real ride!

And lastly, the buses that have left the fleet as I indicated in my previous letter have not been replaced!

Why has this fact not been brought to the attention of the state and city transportation officials not to mention the riding public who continue to suffer through long waits and lousy service!

Some type of investigation in this situation is long overdue! Hudson County bus riders deserve better service!

Thank you,
Kevin F. Speitel
