Like many of Weehawken residents, we had the honor and privilege of knowing Louis Ferullo. He exemplified compassion and enthusiasm when it came to Weehawken's youth.
We can honestly say that Mr. Ferullo became a councilman in this town to do the "right thing"; he wasn't a "politician", and if you needed him, he always tried to help. He served our community as a coach, a School Board member, a Township Councilman and as the Deputy Mayor. Not only was he an outstanding father to his own children but he cared enough to look after all children in the Weehawken.
Whenever you hear someone speak of him, they are always smiling and reminiscing of times when they made that great catch in Little League or a pat on the back from him when they struck out looking at a third strike.
Mr. Ferullo was taken from us too soon but his memory lives strong in the hearts of little leaguers and pee wee football players young and old. That is why we implore the Township Council to put the name "Louis Ferullo" on the baseball diamond at the new Waterfront Recreation Park.
With admiration,
The DeCosmis and Cabrera Families
