Holiday shoppers can find something for everyone on their list at the 13th Annual Hoboken City Hall Holiday Crafts Fair running Dec. 8 and 9 and the Hoboken Historical Museum Annual Holiday Craft Fair running Dec. 15, 16, 22, and 23 (see sidebar for details).
Over 75 vendors at City Hall
The crafts fair at City Hall in Hoboken began last weekend and will continue this weekend - Santa will be there this time, too!
This is a fun reason to come to City Hall for a change, said Geri Fallo, director of Cultural Affairs.
"To see City Hall transformed into this holiday marketplace is unique in and of itself," Fallo said. "Instead of going to the mall, you're going to come and buy directly from the craftsperson who made the item. We have a lot of kids' stuff this year, which I'm actually excited about, because there are more and more families in town. We have a bunch of artists this year, too."
Artist Mary Ann Farley, www.maryannfarley.com, a singer/songwriter who lives in Hoboken, will be offering limited edition signed and numbered prints of her works as well as bags, journals, and keepsake boxes that bear her signature works.
Also a Hoboken artist, Jane Migliore, www.janemig.com, will bring acrylic and oil painting on wood and canvas.
Deb Steinberg, another artist in Hoboken, www.littlepeaces.com, will bring her unique, colorful, and textural "Little Peaces" greeting cards, palm-sized canvases, and framed mixed media works.
Megan Avery, of M Avery Designs, will offer custom handbags, purses and totes.
Barbara Street, a photographer from Hoboken, will also be bringing her work.

Also, the Hoboken Historical Museum's gift shop will be on hand to offer T-shirts, books, maps, postcards, and prints.
18 vendors at the Hoboken Historical Museum
A few of the vendors from the City Hall fair, like Jane Migliore and Barbara Street, will be heading uptown for the Hoboken Museum's annual craft fair. The museum's fair is certainly smaller with a total of 18 vendors, but it runs right through the last weekend before Christmas.
Refreshments for the fair will be provided by Starbucks and Kings supermarket.
The majority of vendors will offer specialty items, particularly jewelry, but also knitted items and handbags.
Possible presents from the museum's gift shop represent Hoboken, including "6th Borough" hats and T-shirts and the Hoboken Kids with Cameras 2008 Calendar. The gift shop also has this year's baseball-themed Hoboken Christmas tree ornament.
Robert Foster, director of the Hoboken Historical Museum, said that the museum's fair is mostly local artisans.
"It's good to support your local artist, and this is a chance to do that, and also get a great gift.
Between the two fairs, you have some great options, and you can actually shop until the 23rd. And if you're definitely looking for a Hoboken-themed item - perhaps a picture of your block - we have over 1,000 images of Hoboken that you can choose from."
