Dear Editor:

I am submitting this letter as a sincere thank you to all who participated in my Swearing In Ceremony with County Executive Thomas DeGise and County Clerk Barbara Netchert on Friday, January 11, 2008 in the Rotunda of the Justice Brennan Courthouse.

I must extend gratitude to my family members who not only attended but presented me with a beautiful collection of photos depicting my life from childhood to this wonderful day of swearing in as the first Hispanic Sheriff in the State of New Jersey. I offer my sincere thoughts to all of the men and women of the Hudson County Sheriff's Office who attended in huge numbers with our Honor Guard. The Port Authority Police Pipe Band, the Jersey City Police Honor Guard and the Hispanic American Law Enforcement Honor Guard enhanced the day and helped create an atmosphere of dignity and dedication to all aspects of law enforcement.

I thank all of the Mayors, Federal and State Legislators, Council Members and all government officials from the entire county who attended and helped make this day truly memorable for all of us who were duly sworn by the judiciary.

I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart and again pledge to you to serve as your Hudson County Sheriff with dignity, honor and integrity. God Bless Hudson County and God Bless America.

Respectfully submitted,
Sheriff Juan M. Perez
