I think it is about time we voted for Board of Education candidates who have shown some ability in the real world, and who have not spent most of their time politically.
I and many friends are of the opinion that politics has no place in the schools. If someone is elected and does a good job and would later like to be a councilperson, that's all right with me. But I don't think someone should be on the board because of politics, or to do someone else's political work.
Our children's education is so important in today's world. Long gone are the days when a high school diploma was enough to secure our future. Providing our children with a firm foundation, leading to an opportunity to attend the colleges of their choice, should be the most important thing on our School Board members' agenda. Not which politician is bankrolling which candidates behind the scenes.
Let's keep our School Board from political influence. Let's not have the politicians decide our children's futures.
