I would just like to take a moment before I get to the real issue of this letter to congratulate Mr. Garcia on his re-election into the Hoboken Board of Education. He had done a great job previously, and I know he will continue to do the same now. So Carmelo, congratulations, job well done!
Now the reason for this letter is because I would like to know the reason why people continuously criticize Mr. Carmelo Garcia for his good doing in our city. People need to clean up their own grave yard and closets before they talk about Mr. Garcia. Knowing Mr. Garcia personally I know he is the type of person that will help anyone to the best of his ability. Mr. Garcia is the type of person that sticks his neck out for people and in turn they stab him in the back.
People hold over Mr. Garcia the fact that as a Board member he voted to hire his brother. What the people really need to look at is other Board employees who have their entire family working in the school system. No one is criticizing them. Is it that what's good for one to do is not good for the other? Mr. Garcia has not been the only Board member to help a family member get into the school system. Let's get real people!
People need to look at Mr. Garcia's track record instead of always concentrating on what according to them, Mr. Garcia has done wrong. Why don't we sit back and see his track record as Director of Human Services for the city of Hoboken? All the people he assisted with job placements and in financial crisis. Mr. Garcia never hesitates to help anyone even if it means that it may need to come out of his own pocket.
Currently as Interim Director of the Hoboken Housing Authority, Mr. Garcia continues to help the city's residents. Mr. Garcia is bringing to the Authority a whole new outlook on what life in the Authority should be like and is working hard to change the concept people have of the Housing Authority. Mr. Garcia along with the Commissioners is determined to improve the quality of life in the Housing Authority.
I would like this letter to serve as a friendly reminder to anyone who criticizes Mr. Garcia. Maybe you need to get to know the good man he is and the great job he has done for the city, Board of Education and Housing Authority before you criticize him.
