Since the takeover by the new administration of Sheriff Juan M. Perez and Chief John Bartucci, the department has really changed for the better. No longer do we sit back and let the local departments deal with the problems. No other sheriff has impacted the county in which we serve. Less than a year in office more warrants are being closed out compared to other years and that's only the beginning. It's a well-known fact that most defendants are repeat offenders that continue to disobey the laws of this state. By bringing these defendants in and making them accountable for their actions, I think in my opinion, will deter them from committing other crimes against the citizens, especially in this county.
Never have I ever seen a sheriff concerned about each and every officer from the senior officer down to the rookie. We also noticed how concerned about our future even beyond to retirement. Never have I seen previous sheriffs give praise to individual officers in form of letters, or just say a simple word like "thanks for doing a great job." It really makes the officers feel proud of themselves and the department they work in.
From the very beginning Juan M. Perez and Chief John Bartucci have done well on their promises to the members already shown in salary, morale, respect and pride in the department.
Respectfully,
Juan C. Mendoza
