47 percent Tax increase?! That is an outrage. I'm sure you will see the mayor and each councilperson blaming each other as to who got us here and position themselves as the person who could have stopped this from happening, but the truth is that this has happened on their watch, and they are all to blame. Nor only will this hurt the property owner in town, but also tenants. Especially tenants that are not protected by rent control (the newer Applied Housing for example). Their rent can be increased with no cap.
People are hurting enough. They do not need to pay the price for an out of control City Hall. And at least three Council members and even the Mayor are contemplating running for Mayor next year? They are the ones who got us into this mess. How can anyone vote for any of the current office holders with a clean conscience? It is beyond me, and we would be just asking for more of the same. We need new leadership.
