Valentine Breakfast

The Secaucus Fire Department Exempt Ladies’ Auxiliary will hold a Valentine’s Breakfast at the Senior Center on Sunday, Feb. 9, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost for adults is $10. Seniors and children under 12 are $5. Proceeds will be donated to charitable causes.

Winter Blast begins Jan. 27 with a free performance from The Synchroettes

The Secaucus Winter Blast kicks off with a performance from The Synchroettes (Junior US Olympic Synchronized Ice Skating Team) on Monday, Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. at the Buchmuller Park Ice Skating Rink.

The performance is free. It will be followed by an ice skating clinic taught by team members, open to all ages, as well as a meet and greet with autograph signing and photo opportunities. The event will run rain, shine or snow.

The Synchroettes have been awarded the 2013 Gold Medal for the Terry Conners Open, the 2013 Silver Medal for the Thanksgiving Classic, and the 2013 Silver Medal for the Cape Cod Classic. The team will be traveling with their General Manager Ellen Rose to Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Goteborg Sweden, Pennsylvania, and Colorado for competitions in Jan./Feb. 2014.

Third-Tuesday-of-the-Month Bird Walk with the NJMC and BCAS

On Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission and the Bergen County Audubon Society will sponsor a free two-hour guided nature walk. The walk will take place at Laurel Hill County Park in Secaucus and will look for ravens, raptors, waterfowl on the Hackensack River, and other birds.

Meet at the big parking lot by the Laurel Hill ball fields at 10 a.m. Participants will be asked to sign a standard liability release that is good for NJMC/BCAS events throughout the year.
