New Jersey will become a part of NFL history as it hosts Super Bowl XLVIII, and we are proud to say that Secaucus will be an exciting part of this once in a lifetime event. As the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks prepare for the game of the year, Secaucus will be transformed into a winter wonderland with a three-day Winter Blast. The festival, scheduled from Thursday, Jan. 30 through Saturday, Feb. 1 at Buchmuller Park and the surrounding area, will feature live concerts, local celebrities and giveaways, the 92.3 FM NOW Street Team, a Beer Garden, over 30 award-winning food vendors, NJ Devil alumni, sled hockey teams, ice skating, and so much more. Our very own Secaucus Patriots football team, cheerleaders and the Marching Band will add local charm to the historic event. Attendees will have the opportunity to compete in a 40 yard dash with prizes for winners, or take a Winter Blast photo in a snow globe. There will also be a special 300 pound mozzarella by Toscana Cheese football competing to make the Guinness Book of World Records.

Crowds will be visiting our town from across the globe to partake in these activities before the Super Bowl takes place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford on Sunday Feb. 2. Be a part of history. Come out and celebrate! Enjoy the food, music, friendly competition, and make memories with family. Not only is this amazing weekend going to be fun, proceeds will go to the Secaucus Emergency Fund, a 501C3 Corporation, K&S Social and Athletic Club, Spectrum Works, and the Secaucus Fire Department. This is a great opportunity to enjoy yourself and at the same time help make your fellow resident’s life a little easier. The Emergency Fund has assisted over 80 families since it began in February 2012. The K&S Club has a long standing history in the community through its Friend in Need program that has reached countless families throughout the years. Spectrum Works, a not for profit social enterprise that empowers individuals with autism, will also be a beneficiary of the event. The members of the Secaucus Volunteer Fire Department are on call every day of every year risking themselves for others in the community. The fire department will receive proceeds through parking fees. If you can’t drive to the Plaza to attend Winter Blast, don’t worry. There will be free shuttle buses every day to bring you safely back and forth.

The weather is even cooperating with this monumental event, as the East Coast is blanketed with over six inches of snow already on the ground and more in the forecast.

Many big name sponsors, including Anheuser Busch, Coca-Cola, Goya, Hartz Mountain, Heineken, Houlihans, Sports Authority, XChange and NY Waterways are eager to help make this action-packed event a huge success.

For more information or to buy tickets for Secaucus’ Winter Blast, visit www.northjersey.com/winterblast. Tickets on line are $10 per person per day, a family four pack is $30, and an adult three day pass is $18. Children under ten will be admitted for free. Tickets at the door are $15. I look forward to seeing each of you as we celebrate Super Bowl XLVIII during Winter Blast in Buchmuller Park.
