On Saturday, March 1, 2014, the annual Hoboken St. Patrick’s Day Celebration -Leprecon festivities were held. Similar to years passed, this day presented unique challenges to the police department and the community at large. As Chief of Police, I could not express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for another job well done.
The goals of the day were to ensure order and public safety were maintained throughout the city. These goals were not only met but exceeded the standard. The coordination and response by each command, the proactive measure taken by many officers and the quick and efficient response to calls for service were exceptional. I could not be more proud of the effort and desire to ensure these goals exceeded the expectations.
As a 42 year veteran of the police department, I realize that this profession places a heavy burden of demands and expectations on the rank and file. Sadly enough, many times the hard work that gets delivered, amidst dangerous conditions, goes often unrecognized and unnoticed. I want to acknowledge all the rank and file and offer a sincere thank you not only for this day but for each and every tour of duty that the men and women of this department represent this department.
I also want to acknowledge the following agencies for their assistance and continued support of this department; Hudson County Rapid Deployment Force, Stevens Police Department, Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, Westfield Police Department, Hoboken Fire Department, Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps, New Jersey Transit Police Department and the Port Authority Police Department.
