Mayor Mark A. Smith has announced that the Recreation Division will team up with the U.S. Sports Institute for “T-Ball Squirts” for 3-5 year olds. USSI's T-Ball Squirts is a great way to introduce your young sluggers to the exciting game of baseball. T-Ball Squirts focuses on the fundamental skills of the game; including hitting, throwing, catching and running the bases. The progressive T-Ball curriculum enables each child to develop their skills, and understanding of the game. Using safe and developmentally appropriate equipment, core components of T-Ball are learned through a series of fun games and activities designed to reinforce fundamental skills and incorporate game situations. Sessions run for a seven-week period from April 26 to June 14. Make up classes will take place after the last scheduled session. Sessions will take place on Saturdays at 16th Street Park. Sessions run from 2 - 3 p.m. or 3 -4 p.m. The fee for the program is $120. You can register online at www.ussportsinstitute.com.
