A mass of Christian burial was celebrated May 7 at St. Joseph’s Church for John J. Maloney, 80. “Jack” passed away peacefully on May 1 at the Emerson Health Care Center. Born in Jersey City, Jack was a graduate of St. Michael’s High School in Union City. He was a member of the “Old Jeffs” from Jefferson Avenue and a member of the “Beacon Red Wings” baseball and football clubs. Jack was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 641, and previously employed by Western Union. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had served in Korea. Jack was predeceased by his wife, the late Kay Maloney; brother of John “Patty” Fahr; uncle of Susan McCabe; best friend of Frank Alerine and his wife Alice. Jack was also predeceased by his sister Ann Maloney-McCabe and her husband James and his aunt, Ellen Meade. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
