A mass of Christian burial was offered May 24 at Saint Aedan’s Church, Jersey City, for Bernardo Merluza Pelipada, 66, of Jersey City. He passed away May 20. Bernardo, originally of Lucena City, Philippines, has resided in Jersey City in the past 24 years. Prior to immigrating to the United States with his family, Bernardo owned and managed HIS tailor shop and was an active member of Knights of Columbus and Jaycees International Club of Lucena City. Bernardo worked for many years in BMA Dialysis in Jersey City before retiring. He enjoyed watching NJ Nets basketball and loved playing tennis at Lincoln Park. Bernardo was predeceased by his father, Antonio Jael Pelipada and sister, Myrna Pelipada Chitngwe and grandchildren, Jackson, Hunter and Mason Patel. He will be deeply missed by his wife Mercy and his children, Gunther and Pamela, and son in law, Jigar and grandchild Reed. He will also be missed by his mother, Dionisia; his sister Lourdes Serrano and brother in law Ernie, sister, Nora Pasco and brother in law Noriel; brother, Antonio Marino Pelipada and sister in law Margie; brother in law Chitngwe; nephews Mahar, Yankinn, Richard, David, Mark and Marvin; nieces Kim Karen, Ria, Carmela, Gabriela and AnnaLisa; along with a host of cousins, extended family and friends around the world.
