A funeral mass was offered June 21 at Sts. Joseph and Michael Church for Maria Teresa (Tete) Tamayo, 88, of Union City. She passed June 14. She was born in Cuba and came to Union City in 1961 where she lived for most of her life. Maria was the director for the Alphabet’s Day Care Center in Union City for over 24 years and was a retired adjunct professor for Hunter College as well as several other schools in the area. She was the wife of the late Joseph Manuel Tamayo and the mother of Manny Tamayo and Lourdes Dykhouse. She was also the grandmother of Timothy, Anthony, Tanya Tamayo and Matthew and Adam Dykhouse. Services arranged by the Leber Funeral Home, Union City.
