Residents from one home were evacuated from an area near Bergen Avenue after a construction crew broke a gas line on Aug. 13 while digging up curbs to create curb cuts for handicap accessibility. One person was treated for shortness of breath after smelling gas.

City officials said crews have been working throughout Jersey City for more than a year to install curb cuts to allow wheelchairs to cross streets.
