JERSEY CITY -- The Association of New Jersey Republican County Chairs voted on Aug. 13 to elect Hudson County GOP Chairman Jose Arango as the new Chair of Chairs.

Arango’s election is a historic moment, as the first Cuban American to ever serve as the Chair of the Association of New Jersey Republican County Chairs. Chairman Arango was first elected in 1985 to represent Hudson County in the New Jersey Assembly and later was elected Chairman of the Hudson County GOP in 1989.

“I’d first like to applaud the entire Association of New Jersey Republican Chairmen on electing new leadership yesterday evening, and in doing so, electing Hudson County GOP Chairman Jose Arango to serve as the organization’s first-ever Hispanic Chair,” Chairman Samuel Raia. “This is an exciting moment for the NJGOP, and I am proud to have someone like Chairman Arango leading our County Chairmen as we approach the midterm elections. But just as important is the network of support that the NJGOP will continue to build even past election day, and I am confident Chairman Arango will be critical in our efforts to growing our strong network of grassroots supporters in the Hispanic community.”
