Here are two gripes of mine, which revolve around lazy louts who should be sent to live in Port Au Prince for a couple of months as a wake up call.
Most of us play by the parking rules here, no matter how bizarre and (seemingly) unjust they are. Once again, jerks are parking illicitly at the abandoned Getty Gas Station on 30th Street and Avenue A. For two weeks, they had a two truck there threatening but not removing any vehicles.
I say rip down the “No Parking” signs and install “Tow Away Zone” signs instead.
Equally, the building is a slum like eyesore, obviously inappropriate for a charming neighborhood of well-preserved domiciles. The owner should get rid of it or renovate it and be a bit more group minded instead of self-led.
Other lazy people have discovered that they can get away with parking overnight on the 30th Street side lot of the high school without consequence, which is exclusively for employees.
Secondly, louts who park in their driveways but block the sidewalks simultaneously create safety hazards for motorists and pedestrians, as well, and should be ticketed ruthlessly.
Driving in this neck of the woods is enough of a nightmarish escapade without having to deal with self-absorbed dysfunctionals who can’t handle the routines that the rest of us have to endure daily.
