Hey, Hoboken and JC: No negative campaign letters next week

As as been our long-standing policy, we won't be printing critical letters about the upcoming (May 9) runoff elections the weekend before the election, as the candidates do not have the time to respond or correct misstatements. Thus, this coming weekend, 5/31, is the last weekend we are printing critical letters about the campaigns.

So if you have an endorsement letter about your mayor candidate in Hoboken, or a council candidate in Jersey City, keep out the stuff about their opponent or people tied to the opponent. Instead, Focus on your reasons for liking your candidate and what your candidate will DO.

However, you can put any comments you want up on this webpage at any time.

NOTE: When submitting a letter, we will get it much faster if you e-mail it to the editor, rather than using the submission form above. So it is preferred that you send it (both in the body of the email and as an attachment) to editorial@hudsonreporter.com. Your name and phone number must be on the attached version, as that one gets passed to the staff for formatting and verification.

We will call you to confirm your letter within three days. If you don't get a call, let us know by calling us at 201-798-7800 ext. 403; we may not have gotten your letter.

Letters must be under 500 words.

Speak out! Send us your thoughts!!!

By the way, we ran out of room for some of the letters we got this week, so if yours didn't appear, it may appear next week (if it's a non-negative letter) or it may appear on the internet as of this Sunday. CHECK HERE.
