A mass was held Feb. 16 at St. Francis of Assisi, Brant Beach, for Elsie Bello, 96, formerly of West New York. She passed away Feb. 10 at Southern Ocean Medical Center. Born in Jersey City she later moved to West New York after she was married. In 2004 she moved to Manahawkin and resided at Stafford by the Bay until 2015, at which time she was unable to care for herself and became a resident at Tallwoods Care Center where she lived for three years. Elsie passed her time in the nursing home working on word search puzzles, playing bingo and cards with the friends that she made there and was an avid knitter and crocheter. Elsie and her husband Angelo owned a stationery store for many years in West New York. She later worked as a seamstress until her retirement.
She was predeceased by her husband Angelo in 1968. Surviving are her children and their spouses Carolyn Riccardi and her husband Francis Riccardi, Maureen Santos and her husband Cesar Santos. She was the grandmother of Janine and Patrick Campen, Renee and Joseph Crandall, Marc and Tara Riccardi, Eric Santos, and David Santos. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Julia and Kevin Campen, Stephen and Lia Crandall, and Kendall Riccardi. Elsie is predeceased by six brothers and sisters, with one surviving brother Charles Magnifico. There were many nieces and nephews in her life.
