A funeral mass was offered Aug. 8 at Holy Rosary Church for Felice Sorrentino, 91 of Jersey City. He passed away Aug. 3rd at Jersey City Medical Center. Born in Palma Campania, Naples, Italy he resided in downtown Jersey City since 1958. Felice served in the Italian National Army and worked as a meter reader in Italy. In 1957 he married his wife, Aurora and moved to America where they settled in Jersey City. He had a long career with New Jersey Transit as an electrical supervisor, rebuilding locomotives. He also owned and operated his own electrical contracting business. Felice was a member of the IBEW and NJ Transit unions and member of the Columbus Democratic Club, Casa Colombo, and the Cucci Club of downtown Jersey City. He was fixture on Brunswick Street and he could often be seen outside his house or walking the village.
He was predeceased by his wife, Aurora, and his siblings in Italy, Michelina, Rosa, Maria and Francesco. He was the father of Nicholas Sorrentino and his wife, Barbara, and of Anna Maria Cerchio and her husband Francis; grandfather of Felicia and Nicholas Sorrentino and Jennifer and Jonathan Cerchio; great-grandfather to Joseph Cardoso and brother of Giuseppina (Italy). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
