To the Editor:

It was an act of kindness that shouldn't go unnoticed. I was jogging in Bayonne County Park a few days ago and a Prep student who is on the soccer team noticed me as I ran by. The team was practicing and, at 76, I wasn't jogging that fast but doing my best to show off. The temperature was a stifling 80 plus degrees. Practice had ended and he came up to me and offered me a bottle of water, which I gladly accepted.

He certainly represents all that is good about our youth and about Prep in particular. I wish I had asked him his name, but I was so touched by this that I forgot.

He is one of the students that Father Reiser mentioned when he spoke about diversity among the student body. I tip my hat to him and his coaches and his teachers for this is a young man you can be proud of. What he did speaks volumes of his character.
