HOBOKEN -- At the end of a l-o-o-o-ng council meeting Monday Night, the Hoboken City Council chose Council Vice President Peter Cunningham, who represents the 5th Ward on the council, as the new president of the council. The previous council president was Dawn Zimmer, who recently was elected mayor.
The council also voted for Carol Marsh as vice president. Both Marsh and Cunningham are strong allies of Zimmer.
Now, the Zimmer allies have a 5-4 majority on the council.
Cunningham was elected to the council two years ago and was also a founder of the Hoboken Dog Association. Cunningham, who works in finance, chairs the City Council's revenue and finance committee.
