HOBOKEN -- Councilman Michael Russo sent this to the council and mayor today in light of the news brief below:

Mayor Zimmer,

I would hope that you, the Mayor, will consider eliminating the position of Finance Director and allow your new Business Administrator to take on these duties.

By doing this we will save the taxpayers of Hoboken a significant amount of money, (Salary, pension cost and health benefits) while maintain the same service.

We need to reduce the size of Government when we have the opportunity to do so, and maintain the exact services provided.

In my humble opinion we do not need both directors.

Thank you for your consideration on this matter. I am anxiously awaiting your response.

Councilman
Michael Russo

If I am not mistaken to date Mr. Russo has not called for his relative's position who "opens envelopes and handles the money" to be removed and was one of the reason's that the Business Administrator postion was thought to be needed by the StATE MONITOR because those hired prevously were not doing the job.

It is not unexpected but still troublesome that Mr. Russo would rather play politics than help move Hoboken forward

The Finance Director position is more akin to that of the CFO than the Business Administrator. Perhaps all that is needed is for Uncle George to get off his a** and do some lifting.
