Time to reset clocks and recharge smoke and monoxide detectors

Dear Editor:

Eastern Standard Time will end Sunday, March 14, at 2.m. and Daylight Savings Time will begin. All clocks will have to be set one hour forward (spring ahead). So while everyone is adjusting and/or resetting the clocks, it is highly recommended that the batteries in our smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors be replaced. Having a functioning smoke detector in the home, where it can be heard while you sleep, for early detection of any fire can literally mean the difference between life and death. The same can be said for carbon monoxide detectors. So, changing the batteries regularly in these life saving devices only makes sense. Too many times it is tragically reported that these devices were inoperable. Anyone needing assistance can call the Weehawken Fire Prevention Bureau at (201) 865-6610.

WORKING DETECTORS ARE PROVEN TO SAVE LIVES!

Thank You,

David Flood
