HOBOKEN -- Referring to it as a "garbage garage," CBS has run a segment on the controversy surrounding the future placement of Hoboken's municipal garage. Residents on the west side of town protested last week, saying they want to make sure the city doesn't move the garage to their neighborhood.

The Hoboken Reporter also has a cover story coming up on the controversy this weekend. In the Reporter story, a source close to the situation says that the site was near the top of the city's list before recently, but that recently, the city's interest may have been more of a way to gain leverage in negotiations with other sites.

The CBS story can be found here.

There was definitely some good info in Tim's story that took some research and work. I think Tim's was balanced because it showed both sides. The residents are genuinely concerned so there is absolutely nothing wrong with showing that. At the same time, perhaps the info should not have been leaked in the way it was.

I don't think the CBS story can be looked at the same way, they were showing some different views on the garage, not taking the time to do a well-researched piece. A New York nightly news dedicates a minute per story, 90 seconds if your lucky. It was more meant to show that some neighbors are worried. Not sure if it was a mason pitch or from one of the neighbors.

Interesting contrast between the CBS story and the HR story. CBS ran a "pitched" Mason/Russo production without any journalistic content.

The HR researched and ran a real story that indicates that the Mason/Russo narrative is, at a minimum, seriously misleading.

Congratulations on some excellent work, Tim.
