The UWA Sanctioning Board of Certified Sensei’s and Masters tested students/instructors in UWA Forms, Weapons, Okinawan Karate and Japanese Ju-Jutsu History and Vocabulary, Board Breaking, Self-Defense and Continuous Semi-Contact Sparring with Striking, Tap, Outs, Submissions, Locks and Takedowns allowed. The testing – supervised by Grand Master Dr. Wright – was traditional while challenging and intense for all. The mission was to prepare the kids and future leaders for life skills, health and fitness, confidence, self-control, discipline, sportsmanship, teamwork, and defense skills against bullies, all while reminding students about P.A.C.E. 911 or Police and Safety Intervention.
One part of the Adult Black Belt Sparring testing can be viewed on www.youtube.com (Preparing Leaders for Unlimited Success Through Martial Arts by Grand Master Dr. Austin Wright Sr.). For Grand Master Dr. Wright’s top rated credentials, visit www.afterschooluwa-martialarts.com.
Master Wright has been established since 1985. He networks with world martial arts icons to catapult his school into the future as the cutting edge academy. Wright is an open minded mutli-disciplined grand master that believes in the importance of a sincere and solid relationship between student and teacher, which is very sacred and special, said Dr. Jim Thomas, head coach. UWA believes in traditional and combined martial arts. At the UWA Academy, instead of imposing super strict rules and or screaming at kids for inappropriate behavior, they encourage kids to discover the why: why doing the right thing and making good choices brings positive results.
