Question: In high school baseball and softball, if a player is discovered bleeding, he/she must be removed from the game immediately and a substitute enters the game. Correct procedure?

Answer: Incorrect. Medical attention is allowed to be given to stop bleeding in a reasonable amount of time. If further prolonged treatment is needed, player will be removed from game with sub to enter. (BB – Rule 3-1-6; re-entry allowed for removed starter; SB – Rule 3-3-10; re-entry for starters and subs)

Question: If a player becomes unconscious during a game, can he/she re-enter after being examined by coach/trainer?

Answer: If rendered unconscious, player can resume participation that day only with written authorization from a physician (M.D./D.O.). (BB – Rule 3, Sec. 1, Art. 5; SB – Rule 3-3-9)
